Fans of Adele will have to wait longer for new music from her. During an interview with German outlet ZDF, the powerhouse singer confessed she had no plans for new music anytime soon. Instead, she’s keen on exploring “other creative things” and taking a much-needed break from the spotlight.
“I don’t have any plans for new music, at all,” Adele retorted. “I want a big break after this and I think I want to do other creative things, just for a little while.”
The English songwriter has had a career characterized by prolonged breaks between albums. This strategy has allowed her to pour genuine emotion into each release. Her discography, including the albums "19," "21," "25," and "30," represent major life transformations and personal growth. Each album's release was an event, that ignited careful dissection of her lyrics for insights about her life.
The Creative Process
While talking to The Hollywood Reporter in a December 2023 interview, the BRIT School graduate explained her creative process, stating that she waits for inspiration to strike.
“I have to wait for a feeling. If I get antsy, that’s when I know I have to go to the studio, and I am the opposite of antsy right now.” This statement reveals her commitment to authenticity in her music and the culture of not rushing her creative process.
Adele's life story is as compelling as her music. Raised by her mother Penny Adkins in Tottenham, London, after her father left, Adele found solace and expression through music. Her rise to fame started when one of her friends posted a demo on MySpace in 2006. This led to a record deal and eventual superstardom. Her success was a result of both her incredible voice and her ability to connect deeply with listeners through her honest and emotional lyrics.
Personal Challenges and Performances
Off the stage, Adele has dealt with a myriad of personal challenges and transformations. She married Simon Konecki in 2018 and had a son, Angelo in 2012. Although they separated in 2019, they continue to co-parent amicably. Her weight loss journey has also been widely covered, which she attributes to her mental state. “It was because of my anxiety. Working out, I would just feel better," she told British Vogue.
While fans may be disappointed by the hiatus, they can still look forward to seeing her perform live. Adele is set to grace the stage at Munich Messe Arena in Germany from August 2 to August 24, a series of residency shows she eagerly announced on Instagram. "I haven't played in Europe since 2016! I couldn’t think of a more wonderful way to spend my summer and end this beautiful phase of my life and career with shows closer to home during such an exciting summer,” she intimated.
After her Germany stint, she'll continue her Las Vegas residency, with rescheduled dates extending into late November. These performances are expected to be nothing short of spectacular and will offer her fans a chance to experience her magic live.
